Still @ Work

Written by on December 22, 2011 – 11:01 am -

Three days before Christmas, but I am still here at the office. We have until tomorrow for our work schedule. Good thing  that there is nothing much to do now with office tasks. ;) I have a lot of catching up to do with blog updates. Our Internet connection at home is really slow and it would take some time to load a single page which is really annoying. I didn’t dare to do some uploading of pictures over at FB or  I’ll end up a war freak. lol!

I will do some blog marathon this Saturday before I go full blast on a holiday mode after :) My brother is asking me a favor to buy her GF a birthday gift since he can’t also take a leave from work. I am now searching the net on yummy birthday gifts for your girlfriend so that I can let him choose on the items that I will buy. We still got some Christmas shopping rush to do. Hopefully tomorrow night after office, we could go and shop some more gifts.

Safety in the Workplace

Written by on September 14, 2011 – 11:45 am -

It is the duty and responsibility of employers to provide a safe place for their employees to work. There are a lot of laws enacted to make sure that employers follow the strict rules and regulation in providing for a safe workplace for their employees. One of this law is the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 which require employers to make sure that the workplace is free of any hazard and that they comply to the occupational safety and health standards.

To make sure that the different employers meet these standards, the congress has created the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). OSHA was created in 1970 after the enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and is an agency, which is part of the United States Department of Labor. OSHA covers workers both in the public and private sector and they provide programs in the regional and state level to make sure that all employers comply with their standards. OSHA conducts inspections of the different workplace and will make the employer comply if they found any problems. They also act upon workers complaints in case workers are expose to hazardous working environment.

OSHA has implemented a number of important regulations, which is very helpful to workers as these regulations protected them from any harm and danger in the workplace by making the employers comply with OSHA’s standards. Some of these regulations include:

1. Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL). Some employees are exposed to different harmful chemicals to perform their work. OSHA created this regulation to make sure that workers will only be exposed to chemicals at an acceptable level that will not affect their health.

2. Hazard Communication. This regulation make sure that all hazards that any chemicals where workers may have contact to have to be evaluated and that information about these hazards are relayed to all workers.

3. Occupational Noise Exposure. Just like PEL, OSHA has established this regulation to make sure that workers will only be exposed to noise at an acceptable sound level.

4. Personal Protective Equipment. This regulation requires the employers to provide protective equipment for the eyes, face, head, and extremities to workers and this equipment has to be properly maintained in a sanitary condition.

5. Permit-required confined spaces. This regulation sets the requirement to protect employees working in permit-required confined spaces.

These are just some of the important regulations that OSHA created to make sure that employers comply to workplace safety standards. If OSHA will find out that employers are not complying, they will be required to correct the problem immediately and may be asked to pay a fine for not following OSHA’s rules and regulations.

That is why companies really put a lot of attention to OSHA’s standards to make sure that they are not violating any of the rules. The team leaders, supervisors, foreman and all the other staff who are responsible for other workers play a big part in making sure that the company complies with OSHA’s standards.

That is why it is important that these key staff get the best training when it comes to safety in the work place. One good online course that these staff can take is Click Safety’s OSHA 30 hour training course. (You can check more information about this course by checking this site: http://www.osha30.com).

This is a very comprehensive online course which covers in detail topic such as safety codes, safety issues in the work place, as well as the updated regulations and requirements in all 50 states. After the completion of the course, participants will receive a certification and Department of Labor card to meet the continuing education requirement of OSHA.

Thanks to OSHA, workers will have a peace of mind that there is an agency that looks after them as they work to earn a living.

A Shift In Work Environment

Written by on September 13, 2011 – 7:20 am -

I’ve been working for about seven years and I can say that I am one those who are considered having mismatched job. With the stiff competition in landing a good job, I can’t be choosy and in need to grab every opportunity coming my way. The first few working years quite a struggle as I feel that I don’t fit in the job that was assigned to me. But as time passes by, I  get to used to the working environment where mostly are clerical duties. Salary wise, I earned the basic plus don’t have any other benefits on the side.

Every worker struggle to land their dream job where everything works perfect, the salary, benefits and the job per se gives them self worth and good performance. As for me, I wanted to work in a Platinum company where it may differ in the nature of my past companies that I worked in with. But it is much promising in many aspects that will surely take me to another level (higher) in terms of the advancement in technology, knowledge and exposure to a broader scope in the science field of business. It will definitely be a challenging yet more fulfilling work experience for me.

One of the best way to boost the morale of your employees is to pay importance and credit to their hard work. A simple engravable plaques with their name on it is already a prized possession for them. These are also great motivating factor for them to strive hard and do good in their crafts. Most of the employees look forward on certain occasions like company anniversaries where they get to celebrate and get awards and recognition. These people deserve such treatment as they also help a lot in the success, achievement and grow of every  business company.

Production Increase

Written by on September 3, 2011 – 2:06 pm -

Yesterday was a busy day at work, I was only able to go online in the afternoon but was not able to work on some online tasks because of a slow internet connection. Good thing though that I was able to finish most of the office tasks. I noticed the increase in production of the company next to ours as I saw some new machineries for SMT Stencils that they are using in manufacturing their products. True enough as I was able to talk to some of their employees and confirmed that they are doing some system upgrade in their company. Since our company will be expanding a couple of years from now, I just hope that company regulation will improve too most especially for the benefits of their employees.
